Tips to Manage Maskne | Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics

Are you experiencing “maskne”?

Maskne is the increase in acne around the areas of the face that are covered by medical masks. The friction between the mask and skin causes bacteria to clog the pores, resulting in small pimples around the cheeks, chin and jawline.

If you’re going out and want to wear makeup, reach for non-comedogenic products that won’t clog your pores and will reduce the chance of breakouts. Fragrance-free, lightweight products are best as skin will be able to breathe due to the fewer amount of ingredients.

Experts recommend frequently washing cloth masks and cleansing the skin to prevent breakouts as well. You’ll want to use a gentle cleanser such as a Micellar Water when you remove your mask, as continuously washing the face will dry out your skin and actually produce more oil. Don’t forget to hydrate the skin with a lightweight and soothing moisturizer!

We recommend these YB favorites for your clearest, maskne-free skin:

Micellar Water – for quick, effective cleansing after removing your mask. Infused with Colloidal Silver and Lime Blossom Extract to purify and soothe skin.

Loose Mineral Foundation – apply a light dusting of Loose Mineral Foundation, created from natural Mica, for light to full, breathable coverage.

Rice Setting Powder – Rice powder mattifies and sets complexion and lip products for transfer-proof, mask-friendly makeup.

We hope these tips help to keep your skin clear! Keep wearing a mask in public and doing your part to keep those around you safe and healthy.
