Education News
Those of you familiar with our Education Department may
already have been introduced to Youngblood's Senior Educators and Makeup
Artists, Valerie Hernandez and Philip Luque. Now the department is growing to
fit the needs of our expanding business.
On February 11, 2010, a training session was held to
introduce 11 new artists to the Youngblood family. All the artists come from
various backgrounds in the beauty industry, helping to bring more experience,
knowledge and diversity to the Youngblood training curriculum -- and soon, this
team of fresh faces will be part of the artistry and training programs.
Additionally, we're in the process of developing a "menu" of
our class offerings to help you customize to the needs of your staff. This new
set up will make the training experience even more enjoyable and precise.

Meet
Ruth Ern,
Accounting Manager
Ruth Ern with her pet rabbit, Cricket
Statistics. Figures. Numbers. Most things related to math
have a tendency to intimidate people. Not Ruth. Her analytical nature puts her
at ease around calculations, and her love of facts helps her keep precise
records. But her talent doesn't stop there. Her diverse background means she's
a true master of many trades!
How long have you been
with Youngblood?
One year this month.
Tell us about your
prior experience.
I started in sales then moved into accounting,
which I've been doing for 12 years now. I've worked in various fields including
wholesale tire repair materials, importing promotional products, retail party
supplies and costuming, and exotic animal ranching.
Which area(s) of your
job do find most rewarding?
I love numbers, so just watching the movements
within the ledgers as transactions take place is very satisfying. It's a great
honor to work for a company with products that are not only popular, but also
made with such natural ingredients. At Youngblood, you can really get behind
what you do here.
Name your biggest
challenge.
Keeping ahead of my very talented staff, which includes
Bookkeeper Sheri Teece and Accounting Clerk Silvia Lopez. They are eager to
learn, and my work is to help them grow in their skills.
Got any favorite
Youngblood products?
Mineral Primer -- it
helps set the stage for whatever I want to do with the rest of my makeup.
What do you enjoy
doing in your spare time?
Studying theology and philosophy, with a good
dose of Anime-watching to break up the seriousness of it all.

Spring Luck Goes Green
Dear Youngblood Pro:
We've all heard the phrase, "the luck of the Irish." But
what does it mean? Perhaps exactly what it says, that the Irish are inherently
lucky. Perhaps it refers to the exploration for gold in the west, where many
people (were they Irish?) got lucky and found their "pot o' gold" in the golden
fields of California,
or in the gold mines. Either way, what I find to be lucky is a constant
optimism and a belief that what's truly beautiful is whatever we want it to be.
Beauty is in the
eye of the beholder. I find my children beautiful, my life beautiful, and yes,
my new Spring makeup collection beautiful -- not just because it's mine, but
because it's real. The colors are completely wearable; some have just a trace
of shimmer (a touch of gold, perhaps for a hint of luck). These colors work on
all skin tones, especially when paired with the radiance delivered by our new
tinted moisturizer. It's light enough to feel like you're wearing nothing at
all. So you look nearly perfect, effortlessly.
And yes, as chance (coupled with some research) would have
it, our new shades of mineral pressed shadow and special lipgloss are perfect
complements to the season's trends. The fashion forecast includes floral prints
mixed with geometric patterns, and decorative ruffles, sequins and satins.
As we celebrate St. Patrick's Day this month, a holiday that
is essentially about good fortune, we all have cause to believe that the luck
we have is real and that the reality we make is lucky. It certainly makes the
days a beautiful place to be.
Sincerely,
|

The flowers are blooming, the leaves are once again green
and the sun tickles the air with a hint of warmth, teasing what's to come. Is
that a little spring in your step? Welcome to Spring 2010 where new ideas and
new colors from Youngblood invite you to put on the flirt.
 This season, Youngblood is
all about shimmer with two new Pressed Individual Eyeshadow
shades that put the sparkle back in eyes. Play with Jewel, a blue-green sprinkled with golden flecks and Ora, a soft gilt. Both are creamy and contain Rice
Starch for longer wear and mica for a luminous finish.
 For
lips, kiss up to a new limited edition Lipgloss in Coy, a see-through nude-pink that redefines lips for a plumper
pout. It's formulated with Portulaca Pilosa Extract, a natural peptide to help
stimulate hyaluronic acid synthesis for fuller lips, and vitamin E for optimum
protection.
Spring
also means nature is in full bloom. For your own natural, dewy glow, try
Youngblood's new Mineral Radiance Moisture Tint, a
tinted moisturizer promising barely-there coverage, light hydration and
protection from environmental damage. Ideal for normal to drier skin types, it
features a host of ingredients to help keep skin hydrated, smooth and supple. -
Seve
Marine: a green-algae to replenish dehydrated skin - Kiwi
Extract and Vitamin E:
free-radical fighting antioxidants
- Licorice
Root Extract: an inflammation reducer to help calm redness
- Menthol:
a cooling agent
- Rhodolite,
Zincite, Hematite and Malachite:
Youngblood's signature mineral blend to help protect skin cells and tissue
Mineral Radiance Moisture Tint is available in four
glow-rious shades: -
Natural,
a bare shade for light to medium skin - Warm,
a cool brown for medium-pink skin tones
- Tan,
a toasty bronze for medium to dark skin
- Golden
Sun, a soft, shimmering gold for illuminating medium to deep skin

Looking to create the perfect Spring face? Look no further
than Youngblood's Spring Collection.
For a glorious shimmer to
match the season, start with Mineral Primer then layer with
Mineral Radiance Moisture Tint in Golden Sun.
This soft hint of gold is positively illuminating for medium and deeper skin
tones.
For eye-opening fun, use new
Ora Pressed Individual Eyeshadow to highlight brow bones and Jewel
to rim lash lines.
For lips, one swipe of ultra-flattering Coy adds incredible fullness and long-lasting shine
that makes you simply irresistible.

Your brush with greatness begins the moment you hold one of
our new Kabuki brushes in your hand. Made with luxurious goat hair, and
available in two sizes (large and small), these professional-grade brushes

Compact with an easy-to-hold short handle that fits right
into your hand for extreme control, the new brushes are ideal to use with
Youngblood's loose mineral products.
Both brushes come in a protective black pouch for easy
storage. And best of all, the short, solid handles are made with wood certified
by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This independent, non-governmental,
not-for-profit organization promotes protection of the world's forests.
Youngblood is the first beauty brand to include the FSC label on our brushes.

Youngblood Does New York in Style
Fashion Week was great
for Youngblood! The phrase, "The show must go on" was more than appropriate on
February 10, 2010. Despite the worst blizzard New York has seen in 8 years, The Vessel. by
Lois still showed and had a great turnout. As a sponsor, Youngblood was there
in full force with an amazing artistry team. Felicia Walker-Benson, The Vessel
Creative Director, and Valerie Hernandez, Youngblood Sr. Educator, lead the
team with style and grace!
Then on February 12, 2010, Youngblood had its second show
for Fashion Week. We were the sponsor for Magalis Garcia Fall 2010 collection
and backstage with the YB Artistry Team was the place to be! Lead makeup artist
Valerie "cocktailed" a few different shades of our velvety lipsticks to make
all the models pout, while they rocked Magalis' 1940's sexy styles.
Also that day, Valerie
headed to Oasis Day Spa for a Haiti Relief fundraiser. She was there on behalf
of Youngblood, spreading her product knowledge like she always does. The
charity continued with Youngblood donating two gift baskets to the Beauty with
a Purpose and Healing Arts for Haiti
auctions.
