Where Is Youngblood Making a Difference?

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics are used at Cedars-Sinai in Beverly Hills, California, by the Medical Group Department of Dermatology. Inside this department, dermatologists believe that skin plays a vital role in the overall health and appearance of each patient, contributing to a positive self-image and greater confidence.

According to their website: "While it has its own protective and healing abilities and is amazingly resilient, the effects of sun, genetics, pollution, stress, gravity and daily exposure to life ultimately take their toll on your skin, regardless of how well you care for it." Cedars-Sinai picks up where nature leaves off and uses Youngblood to help.

Winter Resolutions
Dear Youngblood Pro:

Once again we find ourselves at the beginning of a new year. While many are busy making resolutions -- several of which undoubtedly will be broken -- I find myself making reflections. Reflecting on how lucky we are to be healthy, to have embraced an eco-friendly lifestyle, and most of all, to have each other. As we look forward into 2010, I'd like to take this opportunity to encourage all to make some promises.

First, let's resolve to take care of ourselves by using healthier products. One of the core reasons I created Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics was to help those with severely traumatized skin. As a medical aesthetician, I saw patients who had undergone laser treatments, or who suffered from acne and other conditions. They were searching for natural-looking makeup that would conceal irritation, while allowing skin to breathe. Our positioning encourages you to "breathe new life into your skin," and our satiny Mineral Primer, mineral Foundations (liquid and powder) and the exquisite Hi-Definition Hydrating Mineral Perfecting Powder create the perfect environment to treat skin beautifully without clogging pores.

We've also made great strides in becoming a greener, more environmentally friendly company, using recycled materials for our packaging and soy-based ink for our printing. We've implemented green practices to reduce waste and save energy, using, among other items, compact fluorescent light bulbs. We only issue our newsletter electronically, and so much more. There are simple practices you can do, too, that mean so much: reduce your water consumption with shorter showers, replace your light bulbs, recycle. Even revisit fashion by accessorizing with a belt or scarf, rather than buying something new. My personal favorite is to jazz up a black dress with berry-colored lips.

A final thought: respond to each other. Live, laugh, love. It's a motto we should all embrace, for without one another, we have nothing. It's really that simple.

This year, as we work to come out of a recession, there really is no better time for celebrating what we have, what we can do to improve ourselves and our planet, and how we can better respect one another.

I wish you peace and prosperity in this New Year.

Sincerely,

The Foundation of a Flawless Face

Let's talk about foundations. Youngblood has three different types from which to choose, each promising to create a truly flawless palette and an exquisite face.

Youngblood's Natural Mineral Foundation is the product that started it all. This ultra-fine, loose powder is available in 16 shades and ideal for all women -- no matter what her skin condition or type. It delivers long-lasting, non-comedogenic coverage that encourages skin to breathe. Use for post-operative beauty, acneic coverage and sensitive skin.

Pressed Mineral Foundation is a multitasking mineral/rice powder combination delivering a smooth, matte look. Available in nine shades, this on-the-go formula is ideal for all skin types especially normal to combination. Wear it alone or to touch up loose foundation.

For normal to dry skin needing a moisture boost, there's Liquid Mineral Foundation. This moisturizing formula creates a healthier, natural radiance with its unique blend of soothing botanicals and more than 20 ocean minerals. It's the perfect base for a soft, silky, pore-free finish. Available in nine shades.

Whichever you choose, Youngblood has the right foundation for your flawless face.

For January, Youngblood is offering one free mini Mineral Primer with the purchase of any foundation of your choice.
Lip Colors for a Berry Bright Smile
by Youngblood's Valerie Hernandez

If your holiday was filled with red wine, coffee and soda, your teeth are likely looking a little dull. Fortunately, there are lots of dental products that will whiten teeth quickly and easily. But if you're looking for another way to create the illusion of a pearly-white smile, try a little lipstick.

For the brightest smile, stay away from nudes, neutral pinks and peaches. Reds can make you beam, but some shades can cause you to look older. Try richer reds and berry colors to avoid adding age to your smile. Bistro, Envy and Kranberry Lipstick have blue undertones that work to counteract yellow teeth. Other beautifying choices include Mystere, Vivid, Vixen or Spellbound. Remember to keep your skin tone in mind -- don't go too light if your complexion is deep, or too dark if you're fair.

Shiny color makes your teeth shine, too. Marrakech Lip Gloss  -- an all-around versatile shade -- features perfectly sized gold flecks that reflect light off of your lips. The sheen of Lip Shine in Crush also helps teeth look whiter for longer. Try layering Crush over Pink Lust Lipstick for a gorgeous grin.

Lip color is an effortless trick that takes years off of your look, without spending hours in the dentist's chair. Simply brilliant!
Organic vs. Paraben-Free

Scientific studies have shown that up to 60 percent of whatever we place on our skin is absorbed into our bodies. That's why it's so important to make sure that the products you're using are as good for you as they can be.

A label declaring a product "organic" can mean different things, depending on the type of certification the product has:

·  "100 percent organic" can be used on products that contain only organic components. This means that there is nothing in the formula that isn't completely organic.

·    "Organic" can be used on products that contain at least 95 percent organic ingredients or components. Products with this label may contain some ingredients that are not organic.

·    "Made with organic ingredients" means that the product's formula is made with at least 70 percent organic ingredients. This certification indicates that, although the majority of ingredients used in the product are organic, there may also be a high concentration of conventionally produced ingredients.

Organic makeup can be made from plant materials only, or from substances derived from plant materials. Organic makeup may also mean that it is made from organic or naturally occurring compounds, like minerals.

Youngblood products are paraben-free, which means that we don't use harsh chemical or estrogen-based preservatives. We use only the finest natural minerals, specially milled for superior, weightless and adjustable coverage to offer a healthy, radiant and natural look. Additionally, we use no zinc oxide, artificial fragrances, oils or talc.
