Meet Ryan Cox, Director of Artistry and Education

Ryan is Youngblood's new Director of Artistry and Education. He's been a makeup artist for 15 years, has a degree in fashion from the Fashion Institute and is a trained illustrator. It all combines here at Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics. Let's talk to him.

What makes you passionate about makeup, and specifically about Youngblood?
I love experimenting and creating exquisite faces. I absolutely love mineral cosmetics. And Youngblood is the gold standard.

Why is Youngblood such an exciting line for makeup artists?
Women are paying close attention to what's going on their skin. As cosmetics advance, we're also becoming greener, more ecological and we're paying attention, too. There are a number of lines that simply don't stand up to the test. They preach about looking and being natural. Youngblood actually is both.

What are your plans in terms of education for the line?
I'm creating a pro division of Youngblood showcasing all of the qualities of our minerals. We're going to really push Hi-DEF, especially to professional artists. Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics has been out there in fashion, editorial, movies, and more. We want to expand that. We'll also be able to offer more exclusive items created specifically for pro artists.

Do you have ideas on educating the consumer?
We're going through the stores. We have a new program, concentrating on revamping what's out there now. We'll be training on the basics, then offering advanced training as well.

What are your long-term goals for spreading the word about Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics?
Gaining a lot of public exposure, especially as related to the pro side. When we train individual accounts it trickles down to sales associates and ultimately to the consumer. We want to bring the consumer into a new world.

Do you have a favorite product?
Absolutely! Mineral Primer. It diffuses the skin, has a beautiful base, and it smoothes across the skin to feel like nothing at all. It actually conditions the skin, filling in fine lines and pores. It's something that, as a man, even I use.

Final thoughts?
Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics go beyond the average consumer. They provide a beautiful texture. They're high-quality, high-performance. And I'm thrilled to be a part of this exciting line.

Dear Youngblood Pro:

Each year, as the holiday season swings into full party and gift-giving mode, it's also nice to take a moment to truly enjoy the company of friends and family, and to do a little reminiscing about the past 12 months -- and some forecasting about what's to come.

Here at Youngblood, we saw some amazingly beautiful additions to the line, mineral products that are transforming faces everywhere. In the spring, we introduced Minerals in the Mist in three incredible fragrances, and the exquisite Mineral Primer. There's nothing else like it on the market. With its lightweight formula and silk-to-powder finish, it creates a flawless surface, making fine lines and large pores virtually disappear.

The most incredible innovation, though, may have come this summer with Hi-Def Hydrating Mineral Perfecting Powder. And it wasn't an accident that we released this high-performance product during the hottest months of the year. With licorice root extract to keep skin cool, and Youngblood's signature minerals to energize and protect skin, this powder keeps skin looking and feeling refreshed all day.

2009 also saw Youngblood's emergence as the go-to mineral cosmetic brand for fashion pros as we went backstage for the New York debut of Lois Samuels' Vessel Collection.

Now we find ourselves nearing another new year. I just know 2010 is going to be even better. Youngblood has plans to expand its outreach to both professional artists and consumer makeup aficionados. It's all about breathing new life into your skin. It's all about making 2010 even more alluring than 2009.

Happy December to all, and to all ... a beautiful day and night!

Sincerely,

Go with Glam

Entertaining In ... With a "Going Out" Look!
by Youngblood's Philip Luque

Even if you're entertaining at home this holiday, get that "going out" look with Youngblood. For a formal party, go glam; if it's a casual event, go softer. Start by mixing Lunar Dust in Dusk or Sunset into your foundation for a glowing complexion. To give eyes a golden sheen, sweep Lunar Dust all over lids. Add eyeshadow in Coco to keep the look sweet, or darken eyes with Raven or Storm. For extra gusto, use Blackest Black eye liner right into the lash line.

For cheeks, use a matte blush to complement the eyes. Apply Zin or Rouge right on the apples of the cheeks. Blossom is also a great color since it mimics the flushed look you get when out in the cold wind.

For lips, red still reigns supreme -- and Vixen lipstick delivers. Or use a bit of Truly Red lip liner dabbed lightly onto the lips and buffed out with your lip brush. Top with a touch of glossy Reflection or Promiscuous.

Finish with body sparkle! Dip back into that Lunar Dust and apply to the collarbones and shoulders with a Large Kabuki brush. Or add some to your favorite scented body lotion for an all-over body glow.
