Dear Youngblood Pro:

These days, you can't read a beauty magazine or watch TV without hearing the term Hi-Def. Hi-Def technology makes everything look crystal clear on screen, which means it also highlights the smallest flaws and skin imperfections. Sooner rather than later, your clients will be inquiring about makeup that can diffuse imperfections and give them a flawless look when they're having their photos taken, when they're being recorded on video during a vacation, or during their day-to-day activities. And your bridal clients will love how this powder can make their skin dewy and their makeup looking fresh during their special day. Let's face it, who doesn't want a perfect complexion every day?

Which brings me to some very exciting news. We've recently launched our Hi-Def Hydrating Mineral Perfecting Powder, Youngblood's secret weapon in this Hi-Def era. Between you and I, I haven't been this excited about creating such an innovative, multi-tasking product that delivers so many skin benefits. This sheer powder expertly conceals imperfections for a flawless finish and locks in moisture so skin feels hydrated for hours.

It naturally absorbs oil, so if you have excessively oily skin or live in a high-humidity area, you will love how it magically controls shine. It's also perfect for women who have ruddy skin because the powder conceals and calms redness, thanks to extracts of licorice root. It's ideal for all skin types and you can use it before or after makeup application. Trust me, this powder will make your skin smooth and clear, and camera-ready in no time. Your makeup will look, and feel, fresh for hours. I can go on and on about our new Hi-Def Hydrating Mineral Perfecting Powder, but its best if you try it for yourself. I'm positive that you will love it as much as I do. Call 800.216.6133 and ask for your Youngblood rep for more details.

Sincerely,

Q: How do I get an easy, natural sun-kissed glow? What products and shades are perfect for the summer months?

A: Summer is here and so are the looks of beautiful, bronzed skin. Youngblood doesn't disappoint when it comes to making you look fabulous in the summer months.

When it comes to foundation, a lot of women want to reach for darker shades to give them a sun-kissed look. I am not a big fan of this since it can look unnatural if not done properly. Reach for a foundation that matches your skin and reach for a bronzer to give you a tan look. It looks more beautiful and will give more pop to the complexion. For a bronzer, reach for Mineral Radiance in Sundance (for those of you who like a little shimmer) or Sunshine (if you prefer a more matte look). Using a Super Powder or Large Kabuki Brush gently brush onto the hairline, top of cheeks, top of nose, and down onto the jaw line - anywhere the sun would naturally hit you after you do your foundation. For a more contoured look, follow the same steps but instead of on top of the cheekbones go under them to give you a more lifted look. One place we usually forget to add bronzer is the area underneath the chin. This little area never sees the sunlight like the rest of our body so it might look a little white compared to the tanned look of the face and body. If that's the case it can look fuller since light brings out and dark recedes, so use a bit of bronzer on this area to push it back in and give you a more uniform look.

Q: How do I get a more glamorous, tanned look?

A: Reach for Lunar Dust in Dusk or Sunset. This powder offers a little shimmer and can be mixed with your favorite body lotion, foundation, or used alone dry with a Super Powder or Large Kabuki brush. When mixing products please be sure to watch your portions since a little goes a long way, and do a test area to make sure you don't overdo it. Another trick that Senior Youngblood Artist Valerie Hernandez has taught me is to use the Loose Mineral Foundation in Coffee as a bronzer. This can be used on the face or mixed with a body lotion for a beautiful look on the legs or arms, and can even out the skin tone. Again, when mixing be sure to watch your portions.
