Meet the Faces of Youngblood
This month meet our Product Development Coordinator, Liz Linares. Liz came to Youngblood with nearly seven years experience in the cosmetics industry. She began her career as a nursing student, and to finance her education, took a part time job in skin care and cosmetics. "Once in the world of beauty, however," Liz says, "I was hooked-I far preferred cosmetics over nursing." She was elevated into R & D at a major cosmetics manufacturer, and then was quickly recruited by Youngblood. It's that nurturing side of her that drew her to Youngblood. "I love the family environment here," she says. "Everyone jokes around with each other, yet we all remain professional." And of course, she loves helping Pauline develop healthy cosmetics. "I like helping women," says Liz. "We all want to be beautiful - inside and out, so it's great to have cosmetics that are actually good for us." We're glad to have Liz looking out for us! |

A New You for the New Year
Women are constantly looking for ways to update their look and since it's a New Year, you might be thinking about ways to create a new you to go along with it. Here are some tips and trends for the upcoming year.
- Skin: Skin is definitely in and 2009 promises to show plenty of it. Lucky for you, Youngblood has you covered. Looks for this year reveal very natural, healthy skin. If you're skin is a bit on the dehydrated side, consider adding a few drops of our Liquid Mineral Foundation to your loose foundation. In addition to evening out those dry areas, our Liquid Mineral Foundation gives you a nice glow that is the hallmark of healthy skin. For a sheer look plus a matte finish, begin with the Mineral Rice Powder as a primer then gently buff the loose powder into the skin using a large Kabuki Brush.

- Eyes: Along with traditional softer looks, the smokey eye will be as popular in 2009 as it was in 2008. Both looks can be achieved with our "must have" Pressed Individual Eyeshadows. One technique is to apply the shadow as a liner for a soft day look. Simply use the Angle Brush with one of the darker shadows such as Sapphire, Storm, or Bordeaux. Next use the shadow to line directly onto the lash line. For more drama, use your eye pencil to add a little "wow" factor.

- Lips: A popular trend for 2009 is to apply a bit more color to the lips and keep the eyes softer. Prefer a more natural look? Opt for a nude shade like Honey Nut or Barely Nude Lipstick. To add a bit of shine to the lips, try our Lip Shines. These amazing products, in shades like Crush or Ice Blush, are really fun to wear.
Here's to a great New Year and a fabulous new you!

Ann Asks: "I would love to have my eyes look bigger and brighter. I'm 56 but want to remain looking fresh and young. What can I do to achieve this look?" Dear Ann, Remember, the more makeup you wear, the older you look. Keep the eyes soft and keep the makeup clean. Women come to me all the time and say, "Philip, I want to look 10 years younger!" I remove their makeup and voila! They immediately look younger. I also recommend women find out what colors go best with their eyes. For example, if you have blue eyes, violets and bronzes are best. With green eyes, red undertones and terracottas are a good choice. By applying this rule to your makeup you can make the eyes appear brighter. With eye liner, keep it soft and line the entire eye. A lot of women wear black eye liner all the time. Try opting for softer shades like brown or gray. Also, use a bit of eye shadow over your eye liner to make the eyes stand out. Lastly, Mascara. Apply as much as you can without it looking caked on. The bigger the lashes, the more open and awake the eyes appear. |
