The Eyes Have It! by
Liliana Pennington

Pauline Youngblood Soli has expertly created a gorgeous palette of 16, Pressed Individual Eyeshadows in jewel tones each more beautiful than the last. In this month's column, I'll walk you through the step-by-step process of achieving four fashion forward Fall eye looks you can achieve using these beautiful new eyeshadows.
Eyes Befitting A Bronze Goddess: Warm, sensual, and a little spicy...
This is a softer, smoky eye that works for both day and evening. I recommend Pressed Individual Eyeshadow shades such as Topaz, Gilded, Czar, Doe, Willow, and Coco for this purpose. When starting this look, begin by applying Youngblood's Ultimate Concealer as your eye base with a Concealer Brush lightly blending the concealer over the entire eyelid. Then take a Suede Intense Eye Pencil and lightly shade the lower eyelid being careful to fill-in the eyelash area. Next, blend the Eyeliner Pencil up to the crease of the lid with a clean Crease Brush. This way you'll avoid a harsh line and the eyeshadows will transition evenly into one another. For the next step, use the Eyeshadow Brush and Czar Pressed Individual Eyeshadow loading the shadow onto the brush and blending the eyeshadow from the eye lash up into the crease of the eyelid. Then take the Eyeshadow Brush and blend Topaz Pressed Individual Eyeshadow downward from the crease into the Czar eyeshadow. You can use either Willow or Coco Pressed Individual Eyeshadow inside the crease of the lid utilizing a "windshield wiper" action. Then, blending the eyeshadows as if they were one, use the Eyeshadow Brush and Doe eyeshadow below the eyebrow blending softly downwards.
To finish the Bronze Goddess, add some Gilded Pressed Individual Eyeshadow with the Eyeshadow Brush placing the eyeshadow in the center of the lower lid. Press the Gilded eyeshadow to really "pop" the gold flex in the minerals. If you're wearing the Bronze Goddess for a day look, soften it up by using a single coat of Mascara in either Sable or Onyx.

Bright Monsoon: A duo of shades that transition from a "stormy" grey to a "calm" blue sapphire...
Bright Monsoon is a brighter approach to the traditional smoky eye. Again, you'll begin with the Ultimate Concealer as your base applied with a Concealer Brush. For a more dramatic look, use Black Eyeliner over the entire lower lid, blending the liner with a Crease Brush to soften the edges. To be voluptuously calm, start with the Pressed Individual Eyeshadow in a blue shade, such as Sapphire, and transition to a grey shade, such as Storm. Then, using Black Eyeliner on the lash line, blend with the Eye-Lip Brush to give a crisp take on this dramatic look. You'll want to begin the eyeshadow application with the Eyeshadow Brush starting at the base of the eyelid. Using the opposite side of the brush and an alternate eyeshadow (Sapphire or Storm), blend well from the crease downward allowing the two colors to remain visible. To get the look of a sunset, blend Tangier Pressed Mineral Blush with a Crease Brush to the crease of the eyelid as needed to achieve the look of a sunset. Highlight under the brow bone with Halo Pressed Individual Eyeshadow using an Eyeshadow Brush. Finish with a two coats of Mascara in Onyx.

Simply Chic: A fresh, clean, simplistic look that is a little wispy...
Start with your eyeshadow base (Youngblood Ultimate Concealer applied with the Concealer Brush), then take either the Suede Intense Kohl or Black as Black Intense Color Pencil and rim the inner and upper eyelid. You may want to soften the eye line by using an Eye-Lip Brush. For longer wear, use the Eyeshadow Brush and place a matching eyeshadow shade on top of the eyeliner and cover the eyelid with Alabaster Pressed Individual Eyeshadow. Next, apply Coco, Willow, or Flush Pressed Individual Eyeshadow with a Crease Brush and blend into the crease of the eyelid. Finish with two coats of Mascara in either Sable or Onyx.
Fiery Sunset: Magical, Mysterious, Bold, and Edgy...
The best Pressed Individual Eyeshadow shades for the "Fiery Sunset" look are: Bordeaux, Concord, Prism, Merlot, Flush, and Alabaster as your highlight color. Again, begin with Youngblood Ultimate Concealer as your eyeshadow base (applied with the Concealer Brush). To warm-up the eye, apply Bordeaux with an Eyeshadow Brush over the lower eyelid. Then, blend Prism eyeshadow with a crease brush. Using the same brush, soften the crease with either Merlot or Flush eyeshadow. Next, use an Angle Eyeliner Brush dampened with a little water patted down on a tissue, add Concord eyeshadow and use as eyeliner. This provides matching eyeliner to compliment the "Fiery Sunset". Highlight your eyes with Alabaster Pressed Individual Eyeshadow and finish the look with at least two coats of Youngblood Onyx Mascara. You can also add a little splash of sunlight with Gilded eyeshadow applied with an eyeliner brush right in the center of the eyelid. |

Sonja Asks: I'm using the Loose Mineral Foundation but feel it doesn't provide enough coverage for my large pores and acne scars. Is there something else I could use that would give better coverage?
I also use the concealer, which I love! I enjoy your products and the way my skin feels fresher and healthier.
Dear Sonja,
A lot of women have the misconception that you can cover texture on the face. The fact is that you simply can't do much if you have texture scarring, but you can cover the discoloration associated with it.
First, take the Mineral Rice Setting Powder and press it gently into the skin with a flocked sponge. Next, use the Ultimate Foundation Brush, or a flocked sponge, to build your coverage. Remember, coverage needs to be built. Don't try to cover in one step. Also, when you build coverage, there's less worry about product getting into pores. If your pores are still visible after application, use the rice powder again with the flocked sponge to smooth them out. For more stubborn areas, go back with a Concealer Brush and spot treat the area with the Loose Mineral Foundation.
