Pauline

Spring is here, and in full bloom! As you may recall, in last month's issue we announced the arrival of our Spring-Summer colors, the Moroccan Collection. This month, celebrity makeup artist Liliana Pennington takes a much closer look, and shows you the many ways you can use the Moroccan Collection products to add an exotic flair to your beauty. You won't want to miss the Hollywood tips & tricks Liliana shares with us this month.

Also, I want to encourage you to keep an eye out this month, because our web site has been completely redesigned, and will launch very soon. I won't tell you too much about it yet, but I will say it's absolutely stunning, and you'll see new functionality - including being able to sign up for this newsletter. You're going to love it!

I hope you enjoy this issue of Radiance. As always, feel free to forward it to your clients and friends.

Sincerely,

Pauline Youngblood Soli

A Closer Look at the Morrocan Collection

By Liliana Pennington

Let's look at some of the many ways to work with these gorgeous colors.

Kasbah Crushed Mineral Eyeshadow

"Kasbah" is the Moroccan word for a medieval Moroccan fortress, built by wealthy families to protect their property and the surrounding city. Owning a Kasbah was very much a sign of wealth and luxury. And now, you can bring the rich desert oasis tones of the Kasbah to your eyes with this new Crushed Mineral Eyeshadow.

With Kasbah, you get a beautiful, soft pink undertone with flecks of gold that can really "pop" the eyes. Using a Youngblood Eyeshadow Brush, load up your brush with shadow and tap off any excess (so it doesn't fall onto the cheek area). Work the brush in small circular motions on the lower part of the upper eyelid. The circular motion actually activates the minerals, and will give your eyelid a smooth, luminous, youthful glow.

Like all Youngblood Crushed Mineral Eyeshadows, you can also apply Kasbah wet, to kick it up a notch. Pour out a little eyeshadow, wet the Youngblood Eyeshadow Brush, dab off the excess water with a tissue or towel, then dip the brush into the eyeshadow. Apply the shadow onto the lower lid and up to the crease of the eye. Apply some Youngblood Mascara, and you're out the door!

To make your eyes really bold, apply the eyeshadow wet, then go right back on top with the same color, but applied dry. This will give the eyelid a dramatic but smooth finish. Finish the look with Youngblood Mascara and Eye Liner Pencil, in whatever shades you prefer.

Day-To-Night with Kasbah.

Using wet application, you can also try these tips for a day-to-night look:

Apply eye liner on the inside on the bottom eyelid on the inside rim. You can use the Youngblood "Chestnut" Eye Liner Pencil for a softer look, or you can use the Youngblood "Black" Eye Liner Pencil for a more dramatic effect.

Again use a Youngblood eye liner (in your choice of color) and work the color along the top of the eyelid. Then turn your eye liner sideways, and use the long edge (instead of the point) to lightly shade the pencil up into the outer corner of the eye, then up into the crease. Then use the Youngblood Eye & Lip Brush and brush to softly blend the color. Take a darker eyeshadow (such as "Haze", "Sedona", or "Eggplant"), and apply over the eye liner. Blend the darker color using the Youngblood Crease Brush, then add some Youngblood blush into the crease of the lid (use the same blush color that you use on your cheeks). Then apply a highlight color (such as "Alabaster" or "Moonstone") under the brow bone.

Both of these day-to-night tips can be done pretty quickly, especially when using Youngblood brushes.

Tangier Pressed Mineral Blush.

This multi-purpose pressed blush is a bright, warm color that can highlight the apples of your cheeks, eyelids, or anywhere else you desire. Whether you are away somewhere exotic on holiday, or even at a Moroccan dinner with friends; this rich blend of coral, gold, and a hint of red is the perfect tone for sun-kissed Spring & Summer looks.

For a striking, contoured cheek color, apply Tangier using the Youngblood Luxurious Blush Brush. (The dense bristle in this brush gives a strong finish.) Apply to the cheek bone, top of the forehead, and straight down the middle of the nose, then finish with the softly dapping the chin. For some real glam, add apply a bit of Tangier to the décolleté.

For a soft finish, use the Youngblood Blush Brush and apply Tangier to the apples of your cheeks, softly sweeping back towards the ear. For a stronger cheekbone, apply two coats.

Both looks are generally great for all face shapes, but it just depends on the finished look of the eye and lip. Some days you want a little more "pop" with your cheeks, and some days you want just a soft, sheer glow.

Those lips!

This Spring, the Moroccan Collection offers three different lip products for depth and beautiful effect. Whether worn by themselves, or combining all three, these North African shades are ultra-glamorous.

Sequin. Youngblood's new lip liner "Sequin" is great to use as a base for your lips, to make the edges fuller. By filling in the lip with the lip liner, your lipstick or lip gloss will have longer staying power. Start at the corner of the mouth and lightly shade to the center, then shade the outer edges with the liner; this technique will give your lips definition. Sequin lip liner works great with many Youngblood lipsticks, such as "Mystere," "Kranberry," or "Envy."

marrakech

Marrakech.Known as the "Red City," Marrakech has the busiest square in the entire continent of Africa. The square bustles with acrobats, story-tellers, water sellers, dancers and musicians by day; and food stalls by night, becoming a huge open-air restaurant. Marrakech Lip Gloss draws its inspiration from this romantic city. The red undertones with strong flecks of gold will highlight every word you speak. Wear this lipstick by itself, and the color is almost the same tone as your natural lip, but with a nice sheer tint. And if you apply Marrakech on top of lip liner, you can be sure that your lips will catch everyone's eye!

casablanca

Casablanca. Casablanca lipstick has a deep, rouge red undertone, with twinkles of gold throughout. When you want to show off your lips, Casablanca is the one to do it!

The entire Moroccan Collection is elegant, playful, dazzling, and great for all skin tones. Whether you're at the office, or having a day at the beach, these seductive colors will bring on a hint of the exotic anytime you choose!
