In
this issue of Radiance, celebrity makeup artist Liliana
Pennington has fun in the spirit of the New Year. Her passion for cosmetics means
she shares her favorite techniques with women everywhere, but this New Year,
she's decided to think outside the box and get a fresh perspective. Rather than sticking with the girls, she
decided to get the inside story on how men
feel about makeup. She asked a number of
men for their:
Pet Peeves on How Woman
Wear Makeup
By Liliana Pennington

It's no secret that men & women often don't understand
each other; we think men should think and feel exactly the same way we do. We can't understand why he just won't pick up
that sock, or stop & ask for directions, or take us out dancing. And what's so funny about the Three Stooges,
anyway?
But let's face it, girls.
We're pretty clueless
about what men think too-especially about the way we look. Sure, we know how to get attention, but
what's he really thinking? When it comes to their taste in women's
makeup, I had the privilege to be enlightened by a few good men.
More is Less
The
#1 thing that I heard time and time again is that men don't like to see us look
"overly made up." Common faux pas include too much foundation or
blush-- not blended well into the skin, or even so thick that it's flaking off.
My
friend Crent, of Canoga Park,
CA confessed, "When I see a woman
who wears a lot of makeup, I immediately think she has bad skin. I'm much more
drawn to a natural look."
Whether
you have problem skin or not, excessive makeup can clog or irritate skin. This
is one of the main strengths of Youngblood
Mineral Cosmetics. The lightweight
and pure formulation lets
skin breathe, looks fresh and natural, and actually helps heal problem skin.
Daytime Drama Queen
Nakim
from Long Beach, CA echoes the idea of moderation. "The daytime -especially at the office--is
not the time to go dramatic with too much eye makeup. I far prefer the 'professional' look; it shows a certain savvy."
The
professional look is quick & easy using Youngblood cosmetics. You can quickly brush on classic colors, and be
out the door in minutes. Savvy indeed!
The Dark Lip Liner
Rene
of San Antonio, TX prefers when a woman doesn't wear "that Stripper Lip
Liner"--lip liner substantially darker than her shade of lipstick. "Women who radiate a natural ease and beauty
get my attention every time," he tells us.
That
natural ease is what Youngblood is all about.
Because Youngblood uses a classic
color palette, good taste and
perfect color matching are made easy, day or night.
The Leave-Behind
Ryan
from Napa Valley, CA doesn't like it when he goes in for a hug
or a smooch, and is left with makeup all over his suit.
With
Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, a little goes a long way, so you use very
little. Plus, it's clean, lightweight, resists heat & humidity,
and stays put all day.
Light Headed
Josh
from Providence, RI does not like to see a woman wearing a
lighter foundation than her
natural skin tone, casting a white glow to her face, in contrast to the natural
skin tone of her neck. "If the color of
makeup matches her own skin shade," says Josh, "then I feel like I'm looking at
her beauty---not her makeup."
Josh's
comment points out a makeup artist's beauty tip: the color of foundation should simply
disappear into the natural shade of your own skin. And Youngblood has the most comprehensive and
natural shades on the market, so getting a precise, natural color match is
easy.
Painted On
Con
from Cedar City, Utah does not find very dark (almost black)
lipstick attractive. Nor does he like
when a woman shaves off her eyebrows, then draws them back on. He also prefers naturally rosy cheeks to
"painted on" rosy cheeks.
"I
love my wife for who she is," says Con, "and I like to see her in all her
glory. She's so beautiful!"
That's
why Youngblood is the clear choice for clean, natural beauty, for women all
over the world. Even with Youngblood's flawless coverage, you'll feel
like you're wearing no makeup at all.
And you'll radiate a natural, healthy glow.
Bring Out the Best
"A woman's makeup should never be harsh, exaggerated or overdone," says
Peter from Los Angeles, "unless she's doing Kabuki theater. Men are impressed by a woman who takes pride
in her appearance, and puts herself together in an elegant manner, enhancing her best features, no
matter what her age or status."
Natural: the Clear
Preference
Notice
these men are not saying that they don't like women to wear makeup. In fact, one girlfriend told me that her
husband would actually thank her for taking the time to look great for his
return home!
But did you notice a pattern? These guys all express a preference for
natural, radiant beauty. They love their
women for who they are. And with Youngblood, natural, radiant beauty has never
been easier!
