ARTISTE and the Holidays

The Youngblood ARTISTE palette in Expressionism can give you both a day and an evening Holiday look. For the daytime, use the palette's Pressed Mineral Eye Shadow in Quartz, and Youngblood Crushed Mineral Eye Shadow in Morganite as the lower lid color. Then highlight the lower part of the brow and the tops of your cheekbone with the lightest shade, Moonstone. If you like a softer eye liner look, try the darkest shade, Cashmere, with the Youngblood Angled Eyebrow Brush. For your cheeks, use the Pressed Mineral Blush in Peony from the ARTISTE palette. For lips, you can use either Lipstick in Cuvee, or the Lip Shine from the ARTISTE palette in Crush. Finish with a coat of Mascara in Sable.

For the evening you can use the darkest Pressed Mineral Eye Shadow in the ARTISTE palette, Cashmere, all around the eye, and use Morganite Crushed Mineral Eye Shadow for your crease area. Again highlight the under the brow bone and the upper part of the cheeks with palette's Pressed Mineral Eye Shadow in Moonstone. Use Youngblood Eye Liner Pencil in Black on the inside of the eye lids to give a "pop". You can use both blushes in the palette to shade the cheeks. For your lips, use Mystere lipstick and from the palette, Lip Shine in Rhapsody. Finish your evening Holiday look with two coats of Youngblood Mascara in Onyx.

The 1940s Hollywood Glamour Look

The essence of 1940s Hollywood glamour begins with a flawless complexion. Start with a Flocked Sponge to apply Youngblood Mineral Rice Setting Powder to your "T-Zone". Then, using the Youngblood Liquid Foundation Brush, apply Youngblood Liquid Mineral Foundation to the face. Blend the makeup with a Flocked Sponge. Finally, using the Super Powder Brush, or the Large Kabuki Brush, apply Youngblood Natural Mineral Foundation all over the face to finish the flawless foundation of this vintage glamour look.

Next, with a Super Powder Brush, softly apply Mineral Radiance in Sunshine to the contour areas of your face. Add Pressed Mineral Blush in Blossom, or Crushed Mineral Blush in Rouge to the apples of the cheeks. For your eyes, use a highlight shadow, like Crushed Mineral Eye Shadow in Moonstone or Alabaster on the lower lid and under your brow bone. For the crease area, try a shade from Brow ARTISTE. Using the Crease Brush, softly blend the lighter of the brow kit shades into the crease. For the eyeliner, use the Angled Eyebrow Brush to apply Youngblood Mascara --you can rub off the mascara on a hard surface, then pick up as needed with the brush. Start in the tear area of the eye, and gradually thicken towards the outer lash line. Finish the eye with two or more coats of Mascara. Top off the look with a gorgeous Holiday red Lipstick, such as Mystere or Kranberry.

Voila! You're ready for your close up!

December is all about Holiday parties. The food, champagne, and socializing are fun favorites this time of year, but Holiday parties can also be a source of stress when planning your glamorous party look.

You want to light up the room, looking haute with dramatic red lips and tres chic sultry eyes, but you worry that it just isn't you, and that you'll appear to be trying too hard. How do those runway Glamazons and Hollywood icons make it look so easy anyway?

The good news is, Youngblood's classic color palette empowers you with effortless glamour, subtly softening the edges of modern chic. In this issue, celebrity makeup artist Liliana Pennington shows you how to achieve:

The Dramatic Look - Without the Drama

By Liliana Pennington

Red Hot Lips

Start with a natural tone lip liner, such as Youngblood Lip Liner Pencil in Malt, to soften the dramatic look. Starting on the outer lip line, line your lips, then fill in almost completely. Next, blend with the Youngblood Travel Lip Brush or Youngblood Eye and Lip Brush. Now use the same brush to apply a red Lipstick, such as Mystere, and softly fill in the center of the lip and blend outward.

For a slightly softer & lighter finish than lipstick, try Youngblood Lip Gloss in Rhapsody, or Youngblood Lip Shine in Jubilee.

If you prefer deeper red lip color, you'll need a darker shade of lip liner. I love using Youngblood Lip Liner Pencil in Mocha to shade the outer lip line, fading it to the center. Then, using light strokes of the Youngblood Eye and Lip Brush, fill in the lip using a bright red lipstick, such as Kranberry. The trick is to softly blend with your own lips and then to lightly blot with a tissue; this way the lipstick lasts all night long.

The Sultry Eye

When doing a sultry or smoky eye, start with the eyes, leaving the application of foundation until afterward. This way, if any of the dark eye shadow falls onto the cheekbone, you won't have to worry about smudging the base, and it creates a cleaner finish to the application.

I also start with Youngblood Ultimate Concealer as an eye shadow base, to help the shadow wear all night long. Use the Youngblood Concealer Brush to gently apply the Concealer all over the eyelid, but remember a little goes a long way.

To give the eye shadow extra punch, try using an eye liner first as undertone color. Use the Youngblood Eye Liner Pencil to shade the lower lid up into the crease. Soften with the Crease Brush and blend the liner into the crease of the lid. Place the darker shadow on top of the liner. Soften again with a brush in the crease of the lid. Use a midtone eye shadow or your blush color to blend in the crease. Highlight your brow bone with the lightest tone eye shadow and blend downward to the crease. Finish your sultry look with two coats of Youngblood Mascara in Onyx.

Now, relax-you'll look fabulous! And you'll enjoy those Holiday parties even more, knowing that now you're the one with the ease of glamour everyone will be wondering about.

Liliana's Favorite Tips

One traditional problem with red lips is the color feathering outside of the natural lip line. My favorite fix is to apply Youngblood Ultimate Concealer with the Youngblood Travel Lip Brush, softly blending around the natural lip line. This works best if applied after the lip liner, but before applying the lipstick color.
