Beauty Tips From Around The World

Women from worldwide travel destinations share their local beauty insights...

"I travel with my husband to all his games throughout the season, so finding the right makeup product for all climates was tricky --until I started using Youngblood. The Loose Mineral Foundation and the Hydrating Liquid Foundation each work great for the different climates that I go to. And when I switched to Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, my makeup bag became the ideal travel size, and now fits perfectly into my skincare bag or my purse. After a long day at the baseball park, and then planning to meet with other team members and their wives, it's great to have a quick, easy touch up so handy."

Laura Drew (wife of Steven Drew, baseball player with the Arizona Diamondbacks)

"When visiting Miami all my friends want to know how they can achieve the best tan. For the most natural, deep, and enduring tan I recommend taking it slow, and use a sun block of at least spf 15. Also pack a bronzer, so that when you go out to the hottest Cuban night clubs you can enhance the gorgeous glow that you got earlier on the white sand beaches. My favorite bronzers are Youngblood's Lunar Dust in Dusk for my body and Sundance Mineral Radiance for my face."

"If you are coming to the UK, make sure you bring your metallic color palettes. London is a hot place for high fashion; we're a city that likes the edgy, so put away your neutral colors and bring the GLAMOUR! Youngblood has the best high metallic colors, such as Cashmere and Golden Beryl Loose Mineral Eye Shadow. Plus the Loose Mineral Foundation is great to bring, because your skin might be sensitive to our different weather changes."

Liliana Pennington's Travel Beauty Secrets

Are You a World Traveler? Or do you like just to get away for the weekend?

The demands of her Hollywood career take celebrity makeup artist Liliana Pennington all over the world. In this issue of Radiance, Liliana shares her summer travel beauty secrets.

Plan Ahead: Assess the climate of your destination. Have an idea of what activities you might be doing. Be prepared for weather changes. Of course, most summer travel involves visiting hot or humid areas, so how best to plan for that?

Pack light: Choose your clothes, and lay them all out in front of you before packing them. This will help you see if you forgot something, plus you can choose clothes that go together, giving you less to pack.

Plan the make-up to pair with your wardrobe: Pick versatile eye shadow and lipstick colors, so you're not over-packing. Youngblood's Granite Loose Mineral Eye Shadow is one such versatile color, and works on most skin shades. This is also a great time to get a fresh tube of mascara. Since it dries out, or can grow bacteria over time, change mascara tubes every 2 to 3 months. Plus, a fresh tube of mascara can help achieve a youthful glow to your eyelashes.

Beat The Heat

In hot climates, your skin will heat up face makeup quicker than in cooler climates. And if you're planning perspiration-causing physical activity, consider avoiding the use of liquid or cream foundations. Instead, try Youngblood Loose Mineral Foundation, to allow your skin to breathe. Also, Youngblood Mineral Rice Setting Powder will help control oils, and "sets" your makeup against the elements, giving you a gorgeous, long-lasting matte finish. And waterproof mascara & eyeliner keep you looking great, even during water activities.

Don't forget the sunblock! Sun damage will age skin prematurely, and the UV rays of tropical sun are much more intense than in temperate zones. "Use a stronger SPF for hotter climates," says Gloria Curry, a skin care specialist from Napa, California.

Less is More: Condense Your Makeup Bag

Save space by transferring liquids into small, unbreakable (never glass) travel size containers. This not only provides more room for everything, but prevents disasters as well. "Large cosmetic packages, such as shaving cream or toothpaste, can explode or leak inside your suitcase, because airline cargo bays aren't as pressurized as the passenger cabin," says celebrity travel agent Susanne Jones of Los Angeles. "And of course, checked suitcases are often lost or ruined. To keep such disasters from ruining your vacation, pack all makeup, eye medicine, and prescriptions in small containers, and put them in a carry-on bag to keep with you. Also, by bringing smaller items you're less likely to be upset if you happen to lose them." Liliana recommends leak proof bottles, which range from $0.79 to $4.00 apiece. "And of course Youngblood's exclusive packaging is spill proof and waste-free," says Liliana, "so I am safe to travel anywhere without having spills or leaks."

A good Travel Brush set is a great way to condense your make-up tote. This way you have a variety of different brushes, to achieve a variety of make-up looks. You can even remove a brush from its slot, and replace it with an eyeliner or mascara instead. "My clients are raving about the Brush Set from Youngblood," says Liliana, "because it does so much and takes up so little space."

Makeup Artist Secret: Use a Product in More Than One Way

"I love using Youngblood bronzer or blush as my eye shadow, for a sheer natural color," says Liliana. "And for lips, a sheer, dark lipgloss (such as Youngblood's Jubliee Lip Shine or Rhapsody Lip Gloss) can be used alone for a natural daytime look, or over your lipstick for a quick & easy, yet glamorous night look. And for eyes, by applying a little eyeliner to the outer corners of the lid (smudge, or blend with a brush), you can quickly go from a daytime to an evening look."

Consider traveling with a makeup palette. Palettes contain a variety of products -such as blush, eye shadow, and even some lip product-into a single convenient package, making them much easier to pack. Youngblood's ARTISTE palette holds three magnetic tray inserts for your favorite products & colors, making it easy to keep everything compact & handy. For real flexibility, each ARTISTE tray also fits into Youngblood's ARTISTE On The Go, a sleek little case to hold your favorite three colors.

Meet The Faces of Youngblood

Have you ever noticed that when you call Youngblood, a real live person answers your call? No buttons to push, no voice menus-just friendly, helpful people. Meet the first sunny voice you'll speak with when you call -- our receptionist, Jade!

Jade Schrock came to Youngblood in 2007. "It's a fun place to work," says Jade. "I get to know people from all over the world, and it's great to be able to help them."

A self-professed homebody and computer nerd, Jade prefers to spend her free time at home, designing clothes, learning new computer skills, and being close to her husband Ben and her two Chihuahuas "Killa" and "Handsome." "Killa is the mother of Handsome," says Jade, "but Handsome is huge-he weighs 14 pounds. He's more like a giganti-hua."

One thing Jade enjoys about her job is helping people look and feel their best. "I love Youngblood makeup," she says. "It's so light and healthy."
